Advantages of Termite monitoring and baiting systems are

  • Very safe for people, pets, and the environment
  • Contain no poisonous components
  • Do not harm other insects and animals
  • Very flexible system and can be used around any building type
  • Are not affected by soil movements or weather conditions
  • A long term cost-effective solution to the termite management problem

Regular inspections of the termite monitoring system are essential to their success. Depending on the system and termite pressure, inspections are required every 2 to 3 months. Systems can be self-monitored or checked by us.

If you have termites in your timbers, termite baiting is one of the best ways to remove them.

By attaching a bait box on a termite lead, termite workers will take the bait back to the nest and therefore eliminate the colony.

The bait is not poisonous but contains a growth hormone that stops the termites from molting. Therefore preventing them from growing to the next stage in their life cycle.

It is a very safe and eco-friendly method as no toxic chemicals are used and other insects & animals are not affected.

There are three termite monitoring and baiting systems that Pest Cure would recommend:

Exterra
Termatrix
Term seal Demise

Each system involves placing a series of termite monitoring stations around the building to be protected.
Inside the stations are strips or blocks of wood for termites to feed on and also an attractant.
They use the fact that scout termites are looking for increases of carbon dioxide gas in the ground as an indication of a dead or rotten tree. When they are drawn into a station they find a combination of timber and alpha-cellulose which is the main breakdown product of wood. So this tricks them into thinking they have found a fantastic rotten tree. They are then prepared to build a termite motorway to the station.

Once termites have become established in a monitoring station bait can be added. Worker termites will take the bait back to the nest and feed it to the rest of the colony.

Finally, people often think that the stations will attract termites to their house but the fact is scout termites will already be there.
